The UNSW/ES Bulldogs are delighted to announce that former Sydney Swan Dean Towers will be joining the club as a player / coach in 2019.
“We’re absolutely ecstatic to welcome Dean down at the Bulldogs, and to attract someone of his calibre to the club”, said UNSW/ES President, Stephen Dunkley.
“He adds to our growing list of players with AFL experience, and will be a fantastic role model for some of our up-and-coming talent”.
After playing 57 games for the Swans, Towers has chosen to stay in Sydney and complete his degree in Exercise Physiology at UNSW, and is excited about joining the premiership winning club.
“I’m looking forward to a new challenge, combining my study with the Head Coach role here at the Bulldogs”, said Towers
“I’m really keen to nurture some of the young talent and share my experience of being an AFL listed player; and provide some guidance on what the pathway looks like.”
Towers will join good friend and former teammate Brandon Jack in the red, white and blue; and expects to see a few other familiar faces down at the Village Green when he joins training on Monday night.
“I know quite a few members of the squad have played NEAFL for the Swans, and I’ve probably played against some of them as well. It’ll be great to get down there and start training hard for the premiership defence.”
